A reference site, and the two plants behind the parts

These pages cover one operation: ending a medium-voltage cable at a bushing, a lug or an overhead line. Nothing described here is made here. Every kit, sleeve, rain shed, boot, bushing end seal, terminal protector and separable connector named on this site is manufactured by Gala Thermo Shrink Pvt. Ltd., a member of the Gala Group, trading as Gala Shrink Fit — which also publishes and operates this site.

The company began in February 1979 as a small PVC-processing factory under J.P. Gala. Dip- and injection-moulded PVC components went into production in 1988, heat-shrink moulded shapes in 2001 and commercial heat-shrink tube in 2007; ISO 9001 was first certified in 2003. Bhavesh Gala, the Managing Director, joined in 1993 — the year of the first export order, to Malaysia.

Two plants make the goods. Palghar, Maharashtra runs heat-shrink tube, moulded shapes, cable accessories and PVC moulding; the Surat SEZ unit in Gujarat, opened in 2011, makes moulded shapes. Compounding through dispatch is carried out in-house, as are partial-discharge, high-voltage and general product testing — though the 33 kV certification itself came from CPRI. Accreditations, and which of them touch a termination

Listed as issued. Two were awarded against a termination; the rest cover the company or another product family, and this site does not lend them across.

  • CPRI certificate, August 2012 — 33 kV heat-shrink joints and terminations. This is the one certificate that is about these kits.
  • MSEDCL approval — up to 11 kV (2015) and from 11 kV to 33 kV (2016). PGCIL, the State Electricity Board and EDL have also issued approvals.
  • ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 — management systems. They say how the factory is run, not what a kit withstands.
  • UL File E328538 covers heat-shrink tubes and UL File E335936 covers the Busboot busbar shroud. Neither is a listing of a termination kit, and neither is quoted here as one.
  • ERDA test report — issued against the busbar sleeve, a product outside this site's scope entirely.
  • Export House Certificate and AEO T1 status — customs and trade standing, of no electrical significance to a specification clause.

The six rules these pages are written to

No commercial figure appears anywhere. No price, lead time, minimum order quantity or stock position is published in any source available here, and an invented one that reaches a requisition is worse than a blank.

Every value carries the test method its source names — [ASTM D2303] against tracking and erosion, [ASTM D149] against dielectric strength, [IEC 216] against the continuous temperature limit. Where none is named, none is supplied: a standard borrowed from a neighbouring datasheet reads like evidence without being any.

Where the manufacturer's own documents contradict each other, both readings are printed and both documents are named. Duration is the clearest case: one set of DC withstand voltages is published against three different hold times, and the type-test chart carries all three rather than picking the middle one.

Where a figure a reader needs does not exist, a boxed note says so. Relative permittivity of the stress control tube is one such hole; per-item kit quantities are another; the mapping from pollution severity to a rain shed count is a third.

Kit codes are reproduced exactly as printed — GLT-1100, GXO/E-1524, GXOS/E-1236, GPO/E-3336. A tidied code does not match the one on the requisition.

A class marking is repeated, never expanded. "Class I" appears on six kit sheets. The standards behind the range are named — IEC 60502-4 and CENELEC HD 629.1 — but nothing says what the class grades, so it is quoted and left alone.

The domain says 66 kV. The catalogue stops at 36 kV.

This reference is published at 66kvcabletermination.com, and the name overshoots the catalogued range. Heat-shrink termination kits end at GXO/E-3336 for extruded dielectric and GPO/E-3336 for paper. The single 66 kV item published anywhere in the manufacturer's range is the 66 kV Bustube (GEHB series), which insulates a busbar and terminates nothing. Scope, and how to challenge a figure

Scope is one operation and the hardware immediately around it: termination kits, stress control and non-tracking sleeves, rain sheds, bushing boots, extensible bushing end seals, cable terminal protectors and screened separable connectors. The kit selector is the working entry point; the component list names what is in the box.

Cable joints are deliberately out. A separate family, with separate contents — GXLT, GXS, GXSS, GPS and GTJ, against GLT, GXO/E, GXOS/E and GPO/E on the termination side — catalogued on the manufacturer's joints page. Only the boundary between the two operations is covered here, on joint or termination. Busbar insulation and general-purpose tubing sit outside it too, in the moulded shapes range.

A figure on this site can be wrong. Quote the page path, the kit code and the sentence, and attach the document that contradicts it — a datasheet revision, a type-test report, a utility approval letter. A published value changes only when a document supports the change; nothing is corrected on assertion, including an assertion from the factory. Where two documents both stand, the disagreement is printed rather than settled, and that note stays on the page after the query closes. Send it through the contact page.
